Scaffold Body

Scaffold bodies are bespoke hand-built cargo bodies on manufacturer chassis, subsequent to the chassis leaving the chassis manufacturer assembly factory. Because the Scaffold body is constructed subsequent to leaving the manufacturer assembly factory, the dimensions of a scaffold body can be tailored to the user’s exact requirements.

Scaffold bodies are general open back cargo bodies, very similar in construction to Dropside bodies, used to carry very long cargo loads, specifically scaffold steel tubes. They have easy loading and unloading capabilities from the rear or the side, specifically useful where speedy hand loading is an advantage. Although a scaffold can usually carry weights of over 1 metric tonne, the general loads have a bias towards long loads that are not required to be secure or covered from the elements.

Because the Scaffold body is built to square dimensions, they tend to be a more versatile option to maximise load length. Most Scaffold bodies come with dropping hinged side, and steel reinforced tube holders built into the floor to prevent tubes falling over the sides. However, the obvious disadvantage of a Scaffold body is the security of the cargo.

Most Scaffold bodies are generally steel sub-frame construction for strength and heavy duty durability and often have hinged alloy side boards for easy loading and unloading. Tail boards are often omitted from the Scaffold body build as they inhibit the loading of longer scaffold tubes.
