Traffic Management bodies are bespoke hand-built cargo bodies on manufacturer chassis, subsequent to the chassis leaving the chassis manufacturer assembly factory. Because the Traffic Management body is constructed subsequent to leaving the manufacturer assembly factory, the dimensions of a Traffic Management body can be tailored to the user’s exact requirements.
Traffic Management bodies are general open back cargo bodies, similar to Dropside bodies, used to carry cargo loads that are associated with the management of traffic in public highway road works, such as road signs and road traffic cones. They are unique from other Dropside bodies in that they often have low floor sections to allow road traffic management operatives to load and unload equipment quickly and easily by hand, whilst offering some sanctuary and safety from road users inside the perimeter of the vehicle body. They often have illuminated traffic direction signs built on to the rear of the body, to direct other road users away from the traffic management vehicle. Although a Traffic Management body can carry weights of over 1 metric tonne, the general loads have a bias towards a specific purpose.
Most Traffic Management Bodies generally are all aluminium construction and have alloy side boards and alloy rear tail boards for weight saving purposes, which are hinged to drop down to allow easy loading and unloading of the cargo.
