Welfare/Messing Unit Van Conversions

Check out some of the images in the gallery that illustrate previous Welfare Unit conversions by Vans North West Ltd.

Welfare Unit conversions are bespoke hand-built conversions inside Panel Vans, subsequent to the van leaving the van manufacturer assembly factory. Because the Mini-Bus conversion is built into the van subsequent to leaving the manufacturer assembly factory, the specification and layout of the Welfare Unit can be tailored to the user’s exact requirements and number of seats, level of trimming etc.

Welfare Unit conversions are designed to move working operatives to and from the workplace/worksite around in safety and comfort, and provide a safe, warm, dry environment for working operatives to rest, take work breaks and in some cases provide the use of showers and toilets, and cooking facilities similar to those used in motorhomes. There are specific laws relating to safety that determine how the van is converted into a Welfare Unit that relate to safety of people in transit.

Most Welfare conversions can accommodate from 2 to 9 people including the driver, and are used for a variety of reasons. Most conversions are constructed to utilise the standard van front passenger door, side loading door and rear doors to on and off board passengers. In some cases, Welfare Unit conversions can only be driven with specific driving licenses.

Your Van Consultant is able to advise on the design, the van, the seating capacity of a specific model, and is qualified to provide advice that will keep passengers safe and not breach the UK construction and use regulations for operating a Light Commercial Vehicle.
